Tips for eye protection [Don’t play on the phone in the dark]

It has been rumored on the Internet that playing with mobile phones in the dark after turning off the lights at night will cause macular degeneration. However, some ophthalmologists pointed out that after all, smart phones first emerged in the past decade, and there is currently insufficient data to show that using electronic light-emitting screens will directly cause macular degeneration. However, the high-energy visible light (commonly known as blue light) emitted by smartphones can still be harmful to the macular area. Because in a dark environment, the pupil will dilate, and the eyes have the opportunity to absorb more high-energy visible light. Medical research has shown that animals absorbing more high-energy visible light for a long time can cause damage to the macula, similar to macular degeneration.

In fact, it is impossible for urbanites to completely avoid using smartphones, so ophthalmologists recommend that everyone enlarge the font size on the phone screen and lower the brightness of the screen to reduce the discomfort of the eyes when reading the screen. Or put your phone down for 20 seconds every 20 minutes to give your eyes a full rest.
So remember to use electronic products in an environment with sufficient light, and it is best to wear a pair of glasses with anti-blue light function for added protection!
